Help with Bookmark Bro.

Quick answers to the common questions. Anything else, email [email protected] and a real person will reply.

Mac

Chrome on macOS 27 asks for Full Disk Access. Why?

macOS 27 treats Chrome’s profile folder as another app’s private data, so Bookmark Bro can only read your X or Instagram sign-in there with Full Disk Access. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Full Disk Access, drag BookmarkBro into the list (or click + and choose it from Applications), switch it on, and click Quit & Reopen if asked. If it’s already on but still not working, select BookmarkBro, click − to remove it, then add it again. Your sign-in is read on your Mac and never leaves it.

macOS keeps asking for my password. What do I click?

Your browser locks its saved sign-ins in the macOS Keychain, so macOS asks before Bookmark Bro can read them. Enter the password you use to log in to your Mac and click Always Allow. You may be asked twice; click Always Allow both times. Choosing Allow instead means you’ll be asked again on the next sync.

How do I use my bookmarks with AI apps?

In the Mac app, open Bookmark Bro › For Agents… to install the bookmarkbro command-line tool, add the Claude Code skill, copy a snippet for Codex, or add Bookmark Bro to Claude Desktop over MCP. Then ask your agent things like “search my bookmarks for…”, or run bookmarkbro search <query> yourself. Run bookmarkbro help for every command. Any AI app you connect receives the posts it reads; see Privacy.

iPhone

How do I get the iPhone app?

It’s in public beta on TestFlight: join the beta on your iPhone, and TestFlight installs it.

How does iPhone sync work?

Your Mac does the syncing with X and Instagram. Turn on Sync to iPhone via iCloud in the Mac app’s Settings, and it keeps a copy of your library in your own private iCloud. The iPhone app reads it from there, so sign in to the same Apple Account on both, then pull down to refresh on the phone. Nothing passes through a Bookmark Bro server.

Do I need a Mac?

For now, yes. The Mac app syncs your saves and sends your library to your iPhone through your own iCloud. Syncing Bluesky and Are.na straight on the iPhone is coming soon.

My library isn’t showing up on my iPhone.

Check that iCloud is on for both devices with the same Apple Account, that Sync to iPhone via iCloud is on in the Mac app, and that the Mac has finished a sync since you turned it on. Then pull down in the iPhone app.

Email [email protected] or find us on X at @bookmarkbroski. In the Mac app, Help › Send Feedback… (or Send Feedback on a sync error) starts the email for you.
